Inauguration of the Lauterbourg Container Terminal

Good news about our ports

04 July 2018

On 29 June, the PAS (Port Autonome de Strasbourg) has officially opened its new Container Terminal in Lauterbourg and the R3FLEX platform.

The inauguration was a convivial moment and united the staff of the platform, its clients, partners, and providers, who have taken part in the construction since 2016. During that festive day, multimodality and Franco-German relations were given a central place through a ‘Biergarten’ on the banks of the Rhine.

The Container Terminal in Lauterbourg is the first trimodal terminal to be opened in the superior Rhine region for 15 years. The construction of the Terminal is directly linked to an increase in container traffic in the area of Strasbourg. Indeed, the throughput of containers has tripled since 2004.
