Beer transport in the Port of Brussels

Good news about our ports

27 May 2019

Belgian beer brewer Lindemans together with JF Hillebrand will start transporting their beer from Trimodal Terminal Brussels. This will cover container transport destined for the US and Canada.

This agreement was preceded by a successful test project. Initially only a small number of containers (10 to 20) will be transported every week. But Lindemans is considering moving their products bound for Asia using inland waterways as well, which would considerably increase the volumes. Currently 65% of Lindemans’s production are bound for export and usage of inland waterways will considerably decrease their use of truck.

With this agreement with Lindemans, the Port of Brussels is reaching the limits of its capacity. The Port has launched studies into expanding the port area by another 4 hectares alongside further terminal expansion. Additionally, the Port is considering expansion to the northern part of Brussels (Schaerbeek) with another 14 hectares.
